Library of French Thought (4229 Dwinelle)
The first film school was founded in Moscow, in 1919, and they have since been at the center of transnational movements of people (students, teachers), films, practices, but also artistic and political ideas. Through a comparative study of the film schools established in Russia, Italy, Germany, and France, Moine will present a European collaborative research aiming at analysing their role throughout the 20th century, and keep their heritage alive. This conference will focus particularly on the role played by France (IDHEC/FEMIS) and French-speaking students in this intertwined history.
